In detail
The power supply is the one part whose failure can take the rest of the build with it. The RM850x uses Japanese 105 °C capacitors and carries the full protection set: over-current, over-voltage, short circuit and thermal.
80 PLUS Gold certification means roughly 90 % efficiency at typical load. The difference against a cheap unit is not only the electricity bill, it is the heat that otherwise stays inside the case.
ATX 3.1 compliance and the 12V-2x6 connector matter for current graphics cards: the unit absorbs brief power excursions of twice its rating, and the revised connector addresses the contact overheating that affected the first 12VHPWR design. Cabling is fully modular, so only the cables you need go into the case. The 135 mm fan stops entirely below 40 % load, making the unit silent at idle. Ten-year warranty.
